Fun and Interesting: Google Secrets
Usually our Blog is informative and educational. However, we decided that this week we were going to mix things up a bit and give some interesting and fun things you can do with Google and a glimpse into some cool Google satellite images..
Google has secretly made some of there searches extra fun. From the strange to the games, you can try some of these Google Searches and see what they do.
- Go to image search and search "Atari Breakout" - A game of breakout will start with the Google images
- "Do a barrel roll" - In a regular Google Search.
- "Zerg Rush" - Quickly, use your mouse to shoot the "O's" before they destroy your search results!
- "Guitar Guitar" - A Google Doodle from 2009. You can still play the classic Guitar Doodle, record your music, and play it back.
- Google Pac Man - Another Google Doodle from the past. Play Pac Man!
- "Tilt" - Just search it, see what happens.
- These next couple are not created by Google, but are still fun:
- "Google Sphere" - It's hard to explain what it is, you will just need to click and see.
- "Google Space" -Pretty much the same as Google Sphere, but a little different.
These are just a few of the simple fun search engine ones. There are many more and you can do on your own such as Mirror, Elmer Fudd, and much more. Try different searches and see what happens.
Crazy Street View
Over the years, people have become accustomed to Google Street View and Satellite View. I decided to only focus on the Satellite Views as they are a little easier to find. Check them out below by clicking on the names which are links.
- "Holy Relic" - Interesting group of trees planted in the symbol of a holy relic! GPS Coordinates are: 45° 1'18.87"N 85°43'47.94"W
- Murder Scene? - There seems to be a couple of these. Coordinates 52.376552 ,5.198303 perhaps can let you decide for yourself. Most seem to think it is just a dog who shook himself dry, leaving water to make the wood show its reddish tint. We will let yout think what you want though.
- The White Horse - Outside of Sutton Poyntz, UK, you will see a white Limestone horse and man. Created in 1808 as a tribute to King George the 3rd.
- Firefox Crop Circle - Aliens must like to use Firefox, because just outside of Portland, Oregon, they created the crop circle of the FireFox Logo!
- Drink Coca-Cola! - That's what you will be thinking if you fly over this location.
- Ghenghis Khan - This one is sort of a stretch, but if you use Google earth and rotate the view 180 degrees so you are looking south, it looks like a person.
- Large Finger Print - Proof that Giants Exist!
- China's Strange Building - This first link you will see a map view of a lake in China. Now, click this link, to see what it really looks like. That's right, it's a building. If you look even closer, you will notice it is nearly 5 miles wide and 10 miles long. Most people seem to believe it is for creating Sea Salt as they look like evaporating ponds.
Important Stuff to Know
Google is always watching. They are like the other big brother. They are using your search results to learn stuff about you and how to advertise directly to you. Below I will link a few interesting things you should know about.
- Ad Block - Something I have been using for awhile and it is great! Block all Ads, the annoying ones that play at the start of videos, the ones that pay to be first on a Google Search, and the ones in feeds and banners. Would not go without it. It is free, but they do ask for donations.
- You can see what search trend were in the last year. Yes, Google is stalking your every search!
- There are many settings in Google that you can personalize. This includes the ability to block up to over 500 pages. You can prevent Google from using your search results as information. And much more. Read about some of these here.
Hope you Had Some Fun
I hope you learned some stuff and had some fun. There is a lot of cool things out there on Google Maps. I recommend you play around with it. Check out different Google Views too. You can get a better feel of how things really look in the real world!
